Terminal Offline: Relaunch DealerPOS
If the terminal is powered on but shows Network Disconnected or appears Offline in DealerWorks, start here. Relaunching DealerPOS forces the terminal to re-establish its connection without a full hardware reboot.
Screen black or completely frozen?
If the terminal screen is unresponsive to touch, use the Terminal screen is black, frozen, or not responding article instead. These steps are for terminals with a working screen that are offline.
Before you begin
- The terminal is powered on and the screen responds to touch.
- Confirm you are working on the correct physical terminal — match the name shown in DealerWorks to the sticker on the device.
Fix 1 — Relaunch DealerPOS
- 1
Press the circle (Home) button at the bottom of the screen to minimize the app.
- 2
Tap the DealerPOS icon to relaunch the app and wait for it to fully load.
Fix 2 — Force-close and reopen (if the app is frozen)
- 1
Press the square (App Switcher) button at the bottom of the screen.
- 2
Swipe up on the DealerPOS window to fully close it.
- 3
Tap the DealerPOS icon to open a fresh session.
Fix 3 — Sync the portal
- 1
Return to DealerWorks in your browser and refresh the page.
- 2
If the terminal still shows Offline, log out of the DealerWorks portal and log back in.
What you'll see
The Offline or Network Disconnected status clears and the terminal shows Online in the portal after refreshing your browser.
Tips
- Relaunching DealerPOS can also trigger pending app updates that may have been blocking the connection.
- If still not connecting, confirm the terminal is on the correct Wi-Fi network — it must be the dealership's designated secure network, not a guest network.
