DealerWorks can save a customer's card information for future payments without re-entry. Saved cards are stored in the Customers Wallet on the customer's profile and can be added during a keyed transaction or directly from the customer profile. This article explains both methods, where to find saved cards, and how to manage them.
How to Save a Card
There are two ways to save a card to a customer's wallet:
Keyed entry only: When saving during a transaction, the wallet option appears only during keyed card entry — not during terminal swipe, dip, or tap transactions.
Viewing a Customer's Saved Cards
- 1 From the left navigation, go to Customers.
- 2 Search for and open the customer's profile.
- 3 On the Customer Details tab, the Customers Wallet panel on the right side lists all saved cards, showing the card type and last four digits.
Using a Saved Card for a Transaction
When processing a keyed card payment for a customer who has a saved card on file, DealerWorks will present their stored card as an option so the cashier doesn't need to re-enter the card number. Select the saved card from the wallet to use it.
Removing a Saved Card
To remove a card from a customer's wallet:
- 1 Open the customer's profile from Customers in the left navigation.
- 2 On the Customer Details tab, locate the Customers Wallet panel on the right and find the card you want to remove.
- 3 Click the remove icon next to the card to delete it from the wallet.
Customer request to remove a card: If a customer asks to have their card removed from the system, you can delete it from the Customers Wallet panel at any time using the steps above.
What Happens to Saved Cards When a Customer Returns?
Saved cards stay on the customer profile indefinitely until they are removed. If a customer returns for service, their saved cards will still be available unless they have been deleted or the card has expired in the payment processor's system.
