The customer taps, inserts, or swipes their card at the payment terminal. This is the standard method for in-person card payments.
Step 1 — Start a Transaction
Before selecting a payment method, you must open the repair order in DealerWorks. The steps differ depending on whether your dealership is integrated with a DMS. Follow the guide that applies to your setup, then return here to process the payment.
Integrated with DMS
Repair orders sync automatically from your DMS
Search for the repair order, confirm the balance, then click Payment →
Without DMS Integration
Enter customer details and the amount manually
Select department, fill in the form, then click Receive Payment →
Step 2 — Process Terminal Payment
Once the payment window is open, select the Terminal tab and follow the steps below.
- 1In the payment window, select the Terminal tab.
- 2Under Terminal Payment, select the terminal you want to use from the available options, then click Process [Amount].
- 3A confirmation screen displays the transaction amount, any applicable surcharge, and the final total. Review the details. If surcharge override is enabled at your dealership, you may toggle Bypass Additional Amount before proceeding.
- 4Click Confirm to send the payment request to the terminal. DealerWorks will display Processing on Terminal.
- 5Ask the customer to tap, insert, or swipe their card at the terminal to complete the payment.
