Find your terminal's name

Modified on Fri, Sep 11 at 1:09 PM

Every terminal has a name. It’s the first thing Support will ask for, and it’s the fastest way to make sure we’re both looking at the same device.

Where to look

  1. Look at the top left of the terminal’s screen.
This is the quickest place, and it works even if the terminal isn’t connected.
  2. If the screen is off or unreadable, check the sticker on the back or the bottom of the device.
  3. On that sticker, find the last four digits of the long serial number under the barcode.
The terminal’s name usually matches those last four digits.

What a terminal name looks like

The department, an underscore, then the digits — for example service_719535.

A replacement terminal does not keep the old one’s name. It gets a new one from its own serial number.
