Useful when you are talking a customer through it on the phone. The flow is always the same three steps, though some of what they see depends on how your dealership is set up.
The three steps
A bar down the left side shows where they are — the order, then how they want to pay, then the receipt. Your dealership’s name sits under it the whole way through, along with the customer name and the date the request was created.
Step one — the order
They see what is on the order, your dealership’s disclaimer, and the total. If your dealership asks for a signature, they sign here with a finger or a mouse before they can carry on.
Then Continue.
Step two — how they want to pay
They pick from the methods your dealership has turned on — card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and Pay by Bank where your dealership uses it. Choosing one opens it underneath; the others stay on screen so they can change their mind.
| THEY CHOOSE | WHAT THEY HAVE TO DO |
|---|---|
| Credit or debit card | Card number, expiry, security code and name, then a billing address. If your dealership asks for them, a signature and a terms box as well. |
| Apple Pay or Google Pay | One button. No form, no billing address, and no separate signature. |
| Pay by Bank | They fill in their bank details and the money comes straight from their account rather than a card. |
If a customer is getting stuck on the billing address, a wallet is the quicker way through.
Step three — the receipt
They get a green Payment Successful screen with the amount, the date, a Reference number, the invoice number and how they paid, plus a button to download the receipt.
The Reference is not the invoice number — it is the payment’s own number, and it is what a customer is most likely to read out to you.
Two things worth knowing
- The amount at the bottom of the screen is the cash price. If an additional fee applies, it is added in a confirmation box at the very end, not as they go along.
- You do not have to watch for it. You get a notification in DealerWorks when the payment goes through.
