Process a Cash Payment

Modified on Tue, May 19 at 12:44 PM

Used to record a cash payment in DealerWorks. No card or bank processing occurs — the payment is logged for reporting purposes.

Step 1 — Start a Transaction

Before selecting a payment method, you must open the repair order in DealerWorks. The steps differ depending on whether your dealership is integrated with a DMS. Follow the guide that applies to your setup, then return here to process the payment.

Step 2 — Record Cash Payment

Once the payment window is open, select the Cash tab and follow the steps below.

  1. 1In the payment window, select the Cash tab.
  2. 2In the Cash Reference Information field, enter the denominations received (for example, 2×20, 1×10). Many dealerships use this field to document the bill breakdown for easier cash-out reconciliation.
  3. 3Review the amount for accuracy, then click Process to finalize the transaction.

Tip

Documenting bill denominations in the reference field (e.g., 2×20, 1×10) makes end-of-day cash reconciliation faster and reduces discrepancies.
