Set up a new terminal

Modified on Fri, Sep 11 at 1:09 PM

What to do when a new or replacement terminal arrives. It takes about five minutes if the network cooperates.

What we do before it ships

We assign the device to your dealership and department and load the DealerWorks app before it leaves us, so it’s ready to configure on arrival.

The app may not finish loading until the device is powered on for the first time. That’s expected.

When it arrives

  1. Power the device on.
  2. Connect it to your Wi-Fi.
You’ll need the device’s settings code, which is in the email we sent you. Your IT team usually handles this step.
  3. Once it’s online, check the firmware.
Tap the Settings gear at the bottom of the home screen → Device Information at the top of the menu → Software Version → follow the prompts to update to the latest version.
  4. Run a card through it before you rely on it.

If it won’t connect

Go to A new terminal won’t connect. Almost always it’s your network rather than the device, and that article lists what we’ll need from you.
