Take a keyed card payment

Modified on Sat, Sep 12 at 1:29 PM

Keying a card in by hand, for a customer who is not in front of you and cannot pay any other way.

Use keyed entry only when you have to. If the customer is not present, sending them a payment link is safer for both of you — see Send a payment request.

Take the payment

  1. Go to General → Process Transactions and click the tab for your department.
  2. Find the order and open the payment window.
If your orders come from your DMS, search for the order and check the balance. If you enter payments yourself, fill in the customer and the amount, then click Receive Payment.
  3. Select the Keyed Entry tab.
  4. Enter the card number, expiry date, security code and billing zip code.
  5. Click Process.

If you cannot see the tab

Payment types are switched on per department, so a tab you had in one department may not be there in another. Your dealership can also rename them, so the wording on your screen may not match this article word for word. If the one you need is missing, your dealership’s account administrator can contact DealerWorks Support and ask for it to be turned on.
