When a repair order has a warranty, a service contract or an extended warranty on it, how you take the payment depends on how your dealership’s DMS writes the order. There are three ways it comes across, and your store will be the same one every time.
Look for the Repair Order Warranty tab. If it is there, find the repair order on it and check the amount.
Which one is your store
| WHAT YOU SEE | WHERE TO GO |
|---|---|
| The Repair Order Warranty tab shows the warranty amount, and the Service tab shows the customer’s part | Warranty on a repair order: the two parts are already separate |
| Both tabs show the whole balance | Warranty on a repair order: both tabs show the whole balance |
| There is no Repair Order Warranty tab | Warranty on a repair order: there’s no Repair Order Warranty tab |
Check the amount before you process anything. If the window opens as the whole repair order and you process it as it stands, the customer pays the warranty part too.
