Which user type should I pick?

Modified on Fri, Sep 11 at 1:11 PM

When you add someone, the first step asks for a user type. For almost everyone the answer is standard.

What to pick when you add someone

TYPEWHO IT’S FOR
StandardEverybody who works at your dealership. This is the right choice unless the person genuinely works across more than one rooftop.
EnterpriseSomeone who works across multiple dealerships and needs enterprise reporting.
AdminDealerWorks staff. Not something you’ll set for your own people.

What the USER TYPE column shows afterwards

On the user list, the USER TYPE column doesn’t just repeat what you picked. It’s a summary based on the permissions the person holds.

YOU’LL SEEWHAT IT MEANS
UserA standard user.
DealershipManagerThey hold manager permissions. This is driven by their permissions, not by anything chosen when they were added.
AdminA DealerWorks account, not one of yours.

So the column is a shorthand, not the full picture. To see exactly what somebody can do, open their account with Edit User and look at the permissions themselves.
