Why the card total is higher than the cash price

Your dealership may charge a little more when a customer pays by credit card, and the two prices are shown separately so nobody is surprised at the end.

How the two prices work

Whether the fee is passed on at all, and how much it is, is set for your dealership. It's not something a store can change — contact DealerWorks Support if you want it adjusted.

Where the customer sees it

On a payment link, a confirmation box appears before anything is charged. On a terminal, the confirmation screen shows the amount, the fee and the total before the customer taps. The terminal can’t tell yet whether the card is credit or debit, so it always shows the card price first. If the card runs as debit, the fee isn’t charged.

Checking what was actually charged

Find the payment under Reporting → Transactions. The Payment Method column says whether the card ran as debit or credit, and the difference between the amount and the total is the fee — see Was my customer charged the additional fee?.

If the fee should not have applied

Some dealerships let a manager waive it at the time of payment. If you cannot see that option, it has not been enabled for you — see I can’t see the Bypass Additional Amount toggle.
