Take a payment with a saved card

Modified on Mon, Oct 19 at 3:20 PM

If the customer already has a card on file, you can take the payment without them reading the number out again.

Take the payment

  1. Go to General → Process Transactions and click the tab for your department.
  2. Find the order and open the payment window.
If your orders come from your DMS (dealer management system), search for the order and check the balance. If you enter payments yourself and your department tab shows a search box, click Manual Payment under No Order ID first (some tabs show the form straight away). Then fill in the customer and the amount, and click Receive Payment.
  3. Choose Stored Cards.
If you don’t see the option, your account may not have that permission.
  4. Click the card you want to use.
Each one shows the name, the last four digits and the expiry date.
  5. Add a note, or pick a different sales person, if you need to.
  6. Click Process.
The button shows the amount, so you can check it before you click.

If there is no card to pick

  1. The customer may not have one saved yet.
You can add one from this screen — click + Add Card beside the existing ones. See Save a card to a customer's wallet.
  2. Their profile may not be linked to your DMS.
A saved card cannot be used on an order until it is. See Link a customer to your DMS record.
