A customer has asked their bank to reverse a payment. Find the line that matches where you are.
The money is already gone. A chargeback is debited from your account when it is filed, not when it is decided, and it is only returned if you win. DealerWorks does not absorb that cost on your behalf.
Working a chargeback
| WHAT YOU NEED | WHERE TO GO |
|---|---|
| See what has been raised against you | Find a chargeback |
| Work out whether anything is required from you | What the chargeback statuses mean |
| Send your evidence | Respond to a chargeback |
| Know what evidence is worth sending | What evidence wins a chargeback |
| Decide not to fight one | Accept a chargeback instead of fighting it |
Getting fewer of them
| WHAT YOU NEED | WHERE TO GO |
|---|---|
| Stop the avoidable ones happening | Reduce the chargebacks you get |
The two things that decide most outcomes
| The deadline | Miss it and the chargeback is lost by default, however good your paperwork. Warnings arrive as it approaches, but somebody has to be watching the screen. |
| Matching the evidence to the claim | Read what the customer actually told their bank, then send what disproves that. A general bundle sent for every dispute does not work. |
